Different colors are associated with different moods and emotions. When designing your sites one thing you should think about is the mood you want your viewer to feel. Below is a list of a few basic colors and the emotions they are associated with:
Blue - is one of the most used colors on the web. This is because it is a safe color and the mood it conveys are mostly good. Blue can represent peace, tranquility, reliability, trust, honesty, cleanliness and clarity. Blue can also represent depression, having the 'blues'.
Green - Has always been associated with nature. It also can represent environment, health, luck and youth. In some cultures it represents distrust and danger.
Yellow - Is a very happy color and represents joy, happiness, the sun, and friendship. It can also represent cowardice and illness.
Orange - Can convey warmth and energy. Orange can be a good attention grabber when used correctly.
Red - Stands for danger and caution. Good things include love and warmth. Red is a good attention grabber or can be used for focal points on a website.
Purple - Is a mysterious, creative color. It's also associated with royalty and exotic items.
Pink - Is thought of as a feminine color and is also associated with babies and childhood.
Black - Text on white background is the easiest to read. Attention grabbing colors such as red and orange stand out more if on a black background.
